Campaign Rides

FRIENDLY, FUN, FREE – RIDES FOR ALL

Southampton Cycling Campaign rides explore local countryside using, quiet roads, rural lanes, bridleways, cycle paths and restricted byways. Suitable for Touring, hybrid and mountain bikes. There is always a stop for coffee and cake approximately half way.

Unavoidable changes (eg adverse weather conditions) will be posted on this website. More info: lindsibluemel@hotmail.co.uk

Rides Programme 2020

With regret and with immediate effect we are suspending the Cycle Campaign rides programme, including the advertised ride in Dorset, along the Piddle Valley, on 29 March. This is in response to national restrictions on social interaction which are trying to restrain the coronavirus epidemic, and bearing in mind the shut down of CTC and British cycling rides. So, our rides programme is in abeyance until further notice and no plans will be made for Bike Week rides in June. We hope that some of these rides, especially the Dorset one, can be rearranged at a future date. As and when we can restart our programme, we will let people know – please ensure that all interested parties are signed up to the cycling campaign autistici circulation list

Our Rides Programme 2020 is now available as a PDF download

All welcome on our sociable, easy-paced rides in the Hampshire countryside — they are fun, friendly and FREE. Sunday rides usually assemble at 9.45 and set off promptly at 10am, and finish at the start location around 1:30pm (if a half day). All are half day and circular rides, usually 16-18 miles, unless indicated otherwise. Half day rides always have a coffee stop and all day rides a lunch stop.

All rides include a mix of quiet roads, country lanes, off-road cycle paths and bridleways, so suitable for hybrid/mountain bikes. Children over 10 yrs welcome with an adult.

Hi, can anyone advise if off road tyres will be required for the wheels around Winchester ride on the 5th October please.

    Hi Wayne,
The ride leader recommends hybrid or mountain bikes. So wider tyres with some tread would be best, but no need for suspension forks. Not suitable for road bikes with narrow tyres.

Where does the BRUMMEL BUMMEL start and finish, please? Distance? On road or off road?

The details of this year’s Brummel Bummel are yet to finalised. It’s likely to be a new route; possibly the Test valley, as it was a favoured cycling area for Mark. There is a Campaign meeting on Monday where we hope to make a final decision and the website will be updated soon after.

    Any further news?
CTC has already announced this ride to Kings Somborne but I’d prefer to cycle the SCC version. Is it going to Kings Somborne? Where/when is the start?

The ride leader is very experienced and the group will all cycle together, nobody will be left behind. The ride should be less than 15 miles. If you email Lindsi Bluemel (lindsibluemel@hotmail.co.uk) then she will be able to give you more detailed information about the ride.

When next the upcoming riding campaign is about to happen! Could you please let me know? I missed both the above mentioned dates to join in for cycle ride.

Although I’ve bike ride around MANOR FARM COUNTRY PARK before, but riding with campaigners is a great fun.
