Please see below details for Sunday’s ride to Mottisfont. Weather likely to be very much as it has been recently ie unsettled, difficult to predict anything for Sunday with certainty. If rain comes on, the ride can easily be shortened, missing out the section west of Stockbridge Rd (Mottisfont and Dunbridge).
Ride to Mottisfont Sunday 16th July 2023
Assemble: from 9.45 amjust north of the garage at the Chilworth roundabout, top of Bassett Avenue, by Roman Rd junction Return 1.30 pm
Route in brief: Botley Rd, Chilworth Old Village, L at N Baddesley cross roads to join Rownhams Lane, Halterworth Lane, after level crossing through estate to join Winchester Rd, straight across to Braishfield Rd, Kiln Lane, Rudd Lane, through Michelmersh to Mesh Rd, stright across the A3057 (Stockbridge Rd) on to Mottisfont, Hatt Lane to Dunbridge, Dunbridge Lane, Kimbridge Lane, Timmsbury cycle path to Belbins, path alonside the canal to the Plaza, Botley Rd, Rownhams Lane then as outward route.
Terrain: mixture of tarmac and gravel cycle paths, country lanes and quiet residential roads; short sections on busier road (Botley Rd). Mixture of hilly and flat sections; v hilly Between Braishfield and MIchelmersh. Suitable for all bikes. 22 miles
Weather: unsettled; BBC and met office say possible showers late morning
