Sunday 16th April: Otterbourne
The next Campaign ride will be a circular ride encompassing Otterbourne, Compton and Shawford on Sunday 16th April.
Assemble: the cafe at Lakeside Country Park, Eastleigh from 9.45 am for a prompt 10 am departure. Return to Lakeside around 1 pm
Route in brief: through Eastleigh town centre to join NCN 23 as far as Otterbourne, subway under motorway to Shephards Lane, Field Way to Compton, Place Lane and subway then south on path alongside the railway to Shawford, Shawford Rd and Finches Lane through Twyford, Hazely Rd, Mare Lane, Hensting Lane, Nobs Crook, Church Lane, Bishopstoke Lane, back to Lakeside via shared path and quiet roads in Eastleigh.
Coffee stop: The Bridge Inn, Shawford
Terrain: mix of quiet roads, off-road paths, bridleway and country lanes. Some hills; one steep hill (Mare Lane). 18 miles
Weather: dry, possibility of sunshine!
Please note: some might like to participate in the bunnyhop cycling event at Flemming Park (see below). If so, they can leave the ride at Shawford and return to Flemming Park via NCN route 23.
