Rides 2023

Sun 1st May: IoW Randonnee

Leader: Lindsi Bluemel

This Sunday (1st May) is the Isle of Wight Randonee. The Campaign group will this year cycle the half randonee although if some wish to do the complete route there is no reason why we shouldn’t have two groups. So, if you have been deterred from joining us in previous years because of the distance and the hills, please think about coming along this year. Still some hills (not the steepest) but shorter distance will make it a more relaxed and enjoyable day.

Please arrive at the Red Funnel ferry terminal at 7.40 am. This will give us 15 mins to buy tickets (at a reduced Randonee price) allowing for a possibly lengthy queue. We will form a group near the entrance to the terminal and some of us will be wearing orange Campaign high-vis so we will be easy to find.

BBC weather site predicts sunny intervals and light breezes.

For those who haven’t been before, some advice: carry as little as possible to reduce weight but DO bring a spare inner tube and minimal repair tools; water – one water bottle will be enough because it can be refilled; very basic first-aid. Food not necessary because there is plenty available to purchase at all the stopping points but bring a few energy rations if you wish (eg biscuits; choc bar; banana). Finally, check that your bike is in good working order before setting out.
