Isle of Wight ride postponed to Sunday 25th March
The Southampton Cycling Campaign ride to Isle of Wight, scheduled for Sunday 18th March was cancelled because of the poor weather.
This has been rescheduled for Sunday 25th March
It is an all day ride from Cowes to Sandown and back covering a distance of ~32 miles on fairly flat terrain so is suitable for any type of bicycle or rider able to cover this distance at a very easy pace ~8-10 mph.
Meet: 8.45 am at the Red Funnel Ferry terminal for 9 am ferry. Please allow time to buy your ticket if you are not part of the group ticket.
Route: NCN 23 can easily be seen on OS IoW Explorer Map; follows the route of disused railway line. More info at http://www.sustrans.org.uk/
Fairly flat; approximately 32 miles (there and back).
Coffee and lunch: coffee stop at Newport; lunch – option of picnic at Sandown or nearby pub
