Bike Week 2018

NATIONAL BIKE WEEK

EVENTS & RIDES 9 – 17 June

Fun, Family friendly and FREE.

All abilities welcome. Bring waterproofs and lights. Accompanied over 12s welcome. Under 12s welcome on Saturday rides in cargo bikes/bike seats. Our rides are either easy or very easy paced and led by experienced leaders. Only the HSBC and British Cycling guided rides need to be booked.

Slow and Sedate SHIRLEY Ride

All ages and abilities welcome, inc. new and returning cyclists with any bike in good working order! Children are welcome — please be aware that the route will be on roads as well as cycle lanes. Picnic opportunity before and afterwards.

Monday 11 June 6:30 – 8:30 pm

From: Hawthorns Centre, The Common

A leisurely ride round the COMMON & the SPORTS CENTRE and along quiet, linking roads.

Riding on paths through the Common, then quiet roads to the Sports Centre and back. Those who wish to can peel off for an informal meeting of the Campaign at the View on the Sports Centre. This ride celebrates some of our wonderful open spaces by bike. It is aimed mainly at people building confidence in cycling and broadening their cycling range. Experienced cyclists and members of the Campaign would be most welcome to encourage new folks into the cycling habit. Please bring a friend!

This ride is also part of the Big Bike Revival initiative which aims to get more people cycling and includes cycling road craft sessions 13, 15, 23 and 28 July.

Relaxing RIVERSIDE Ride (circular route inc Woodmill, the Boardwalk & Northam Bridge)

A ride to support the Clean Air event in Bitterne Triangle – picnic/ street party opportunity before and afterwards.
