Campaign ride to Bursledon: Sunday 16th October
The October Campaign ride is to Bursledon on Sunday 16th October. This is a short leisurely ride, suitable for everyone. Half of the route is off-road (mountain bikes not necessary) and there are no busy roads. Terrain is hilly in parts but hills can be walked up.
We will be stopping for coffee and cake at the Old Ferry cafe (one of the floating bridges formerly used to take people and vehicles across the Itchen). They would like numbers, so if you think you might come on the ride, please let me know by emailing lindsibluemel@hotmail.co.uk
Meet: Woolston Station from 9.45 am for prompt 10 am departure Return between 1 and 1.30 pm
Distance: 15 miles
Suitable for: all bikes except road bikes; all cyclists except beginners, incl children over 8 yrs.
Terrain: off-road tracks and quiet roads; some short hills
Route: Garton Rd, Porchester Rd, Station Rd, Spring Rd, Millers Pond, Weston Greenway, Crest Way, Butts Sq, Sullivan Rd, Montague Ave, Shop Lane, Pound Rd, Chamberlaine Rd, The Acorns, off-road path to Hungerford, Kew Lane, High Street, Station Hill, Elephant Boatyard for the Old Ferry cafe. Return via bridleway to Satchell Lane, through Hamble College, Hound Way, RVCP, then NCN 2 along Weston Shore.
