Campaign ride to Owslebury: Sunday 17th January
The next Cycle Campaign ride is around Owslebury. Original plan was for a circular route but this involves using at least one bridleway and my risk assessment on Tuesday confirmed that the bridleways are not currently usable. However, the lanes around Owslebury are almost traffic-free and we can have an enjoyable ride using the same out/return route.
Meet outside Lakeside cafe between 9.45 and 10 am. Return between 1 and 1.30 pm. Parking free; toilets available.
Quiet roads through Eastleigh then cycle path; after Bishopstoke all on quiet rural lanes (except Nob’s Crook, track). Very hilly beyond Eastleigh. Approx 18 miles. All bikes suitable.
Coffee and cake stop at Fishers Pond PH on return route.
Route in brief: quiet route through Eastleigh, Bishopstoke Rd (on cycle path), Church Lane, Nob’s Crook, Hensting Lane, Whites Hill, Owslebury, Jackman’s Hill, Morestead, Hazely Rd, Mare Lane, Hensting Lane, return from here as outward route.
Please join us if you are a regular on our rides or have never been on one. A friendly group cycling at a moderate pace; it’s fine to walk up the steeper hills. It is forecast to be sunny.
