WHEELS AROUND WINCHESTER: SUNDAY 5TH OCTOBER

The next Campaign ride will be on Sunday 5th October.  Meet outside Lakeside cafe, Eastleigh (off Wide Lane, just past airport) between 9.45 and 10 am.  We will take a circular route mainly on resticted byways and bridleways of approximately 18 miles, stopping for coffee and cake in Winchester.  Gentle pace, back about 1.30 pm.  All welcome; hybrid or mountain bikes best.

The provisional route is:   From Lakeside following NCN 23 through Flemming Park and on quiet roads to the Otter PH; join the Otterbourne Road , taking first turning left then right onto Silkstead Lane (restricted byway), continuing on  Whiteshute Lane (also restricted byway) into Winchester where we will stop for refreshments.  Return will be via Tun Bridge and Pilgrims Trail bridleway, Mare Lane, Hensting Lane  then right onto B3354 for short distance; left at roundabout, left again onto Bishopstoke Rd, down through Bishopstoke, right into Eastleigh (I believe this has been improved for cyclists), back to Lakeside using quiet roads and the new cycle  link through the new houses just north of Lakeside.
