Campaign ride to Upham in the South Downs

On Sunday 23rd March there will be a Campaign ride to Upham in the South Downs starting from Riverside Park (behind social club on Manor Farm Rd) at 10 am (assemble from 9.45 am).  Mainly on rural roads and quiet suburban roads; cycle paths avoid the A27, so no busy roads.

We will be going out to the South Downs via Barbe Baker Ave, Moorgreen Rd and Burnetts Lane and returning via Allington Lane, stopping for refreshments at Arturis Garden Centre. Unfortunately the half-way point is the pub at Upham but it does not open until noon on Sundays  and I estimate that we will be there around 11.30 am. However, we have stopped at Arturis on a previous ride and it is excellent. About half of the ride is fairly flat but once in the Downs it is hilly.  Don’t let this put you off as we can walk up any steep hills.

If you haven’t cycled in the Downs before, come along and join us for an exploration of some wonderful countryside right on your doorstep.
