Campaign ride to Pepperbox Hill on Saturday
Next Campaign ride is this Saturday, 10th August, meeting at Dunbridge Station for a 10 am departure.
This is definitely one for the adventurous amongst you! Comprising 20 miles of bridleways, byways, restricted byways and quiet lanes the ride explores the glorious countryside on the Wiltshire/Hampshire border and includes two miles along the top of the ridge between Dean Hill and Pepperbox Hill. Stunning views the whole length of the ride.
Please bring water and a snack for the break at Pepperbox Hill as pub stop will be near the end of the route, at Lockerly and you may need sustenance before arriving here.
Road bikes best avoided owing to the terrain of the off-road sections, although there are road alternatives.
There is a train leaving Eastleigh at 9.21 am, which stops at Parkway, Swaythling, St Denys, Central, Millbrook, Redbridge and Romsey, arriving at Dunbridge at 9.56 am. Alternatively, if you prefer to cycle from Southampton, I suggest meeting at the Chilworth Roundabout garage between 8.50 and 9 am. There is also free parking at Dunbridge.
