SUNDAY RIDES

Sunday 18th November – Eastleigh Station to Owlesbury

The November ride to Owslebury will take place this Sunday, (18th).  It will be a fairly short ride as some are involved with the World Day of Commemoration for Road Traffic Victims which is from 1 – 3 pm starting at the Art House in Above Bar.
Meet:  from 9.45 outside Eastleigh railway station.
Route in brief:  cycle path from the stn to Bishopstoke, Bishopstoke Lane, Church Lane, Nobbs Corner, straight across Winchester Rd, Hensting Lane to Owslebury; a loop around Owslebury then bridleway back to Fisher’s Pond and return from here as outward route.
Coffee and cake stop:  Fisher’s Pond PH
Terrain:   mainly quiet roads and off-road paths, all tarmac; approx one mile on bridleway which is soft and easygoing, no rough or stony sections.  Because of the bridleway, hybrid or mountain bikes recommended (although anyone on a road bike could simply return to Fisher’s Pond from Owslebury via Hensting Lane).
Weather:  sunshine forecast!
Return:  we should be back at Eastleigh stn by 1 pm.

    Hi, can anyone advise if off road tyres will be required for the wheels around Winchester ride on the 5th October please.

    Thanks

    Wayne.

    @Wayne Palmer
    Hi Wayne,
    The ride leader recommends hybrid or mountain bikes. So wider tyres with some tread would be best, but no need for suspension forks. Not suitable for road bikes with narrow tyres.
    Regards,
    David

  6. Peter Court says:

    Where does the BRUMMEL BUMMEL start and finish, please? Distance? On road or off road?

  7. dht says:

    The details of this year’s Brummel Bummel are yet to finalised. It’s likely to be a new route; possibly the Test valley, as it was a favoured cycling area for Mark. There is a Campaign meeting on Monday where we hope to make a final decision and the website will be updated soon after.

    @dht
    Any further news?
    CTC has already announced this ride to Kings Somborne but I’d prefer to cycle the SCC version. Is it going to Kings Somborne? Where/when is the start?

  9. dht says:

    @Nigel

    Hi Nigel,
    Information about the Brummel Bummel is now available on the Southampton Cycling Campaign website.
    Regards,
    David

    hi – the ride on the 15th meeting at cowheards – how long is it? Not sure if I can keep up as i am not very fast or experienced.

  11. dht says:

    @reena
    The ride leader is very experienced and the group will all cycle together, nobody will be left behind. The ride should be less than 15 miles. If you email Lindsi Bluemel (lindsibluemel@hotmail.co.uk) then she will be able to give you more detailed information about the ride.

  12. Morny says:

    When next the upcoming riding campaign is about to happen! Could you please let me know? I missed both the above mentioned dates to join in for cycle ride.

    Although I’ve bike ride around MANOR FARM COUNTRY PARK before, but riding with campaigners is a great fun.

  13. Lyn Brayshaw says:
